how do i do all this
laptop in bedroom i have a house computer in living room want play xbox in living room now adding internet connection to living room computer to play it then what do i do please give details
You need to have broad band internet to play. Dial-up is useless. If you have a PC connected to the broadband modem and you don't have a second box looking device connected to the modem before it connects to your PC, then you need to buy a device called a router.
The cable that came with the 360 is an ethernet cord (and not a crossover cable) so you can't plug it into your PC (unless your PC's ethernet card support autoswitching). Plugging the 360 into the PC is a bad idea anyway, its better to buy a router.
A wireless one (WiFi enabled router) is a good choice just in case the 360 or any other PC's are far away and you can't run a cable between them. The WiFi router also has 4 available ethernet ports in the back, just in case you want to use an ethernet cable. If you are going to connect your PC's
The 360 doesn't come with a WiFi card built-in, so you either have to buy the Microsoft USB WiFi adapter (expensive ~$90 and is only 54Mbit bandwidth) or buy a what is known as a WiFi bridge. THe WiFi bridge will plug into the 360's ethernet port and convert the ethernet signal into a WiFi signal so it can connect to you router and the internet. They can be bought for $60 or less.
There are some routers out there specifically designed to improving the gaming experience by reduce lag (reducing your ping: the time it take for the 360 to communicate with your ISP, then the person hosting the 360 game and back to your 360. It is measured in milliseconds and anything below 60ms is usually very playable and you won't notice choppiness).
The D-Link DGL-4300 is an older WiFi (and ethernet) router with a process to reduce pings by upto %30. It is highly recommended by people who have bought it.

Its about $120 from newegg. There is a non-WiFi version called the DGL-4100

If you don't want a gaming router, at least get one with QoS (quality of service). With QoS you can prioritize gaming and VOIP over say BitTorrent. Also if you already have a router and want better pings, you can get an external QoS prioritizer like the Hawkings HBB1. Its as expensive as most routers though.

There are some Draft N (higher WiFi Bandwidth) router out there. High end models are the D-Link DIR-655 and the Apple Airport Extreme Draft N version. THe Apple is one is expensive ~$180, but has the best WiFi performance of all Draft N routers (as well as routeing performance). THe DIR-655 is $120 and is good and support QoS as well.

If you play games QoS upload bandwidth is very important so get a router with QoS.
Once you buy the router, follow the instruction for setup. Make sure to enable the DHCP server on the router during setup. Plug into your PCs and 360 and it should work. If you are using a WiFi bridge, it may take some extra time to configure the bridge to use your WiFi LAN.
A free alternative to Xbox Live is XBConnect which tunnels System Link enabled games over the WAN. You need to have a windows PC to play. You can't play someone over Live with SYstem Link though. X-Link Kai is another but I don't know how to get it to work with the 360. X-Link Kai is better though.
