What do I need for Xbox (360) Live?

My boyfriend recently got an Xbox 360 and want to do what he needs to play in XBLive. I know with the original Xbox, all I needed was high speed wireless, ethernet cable, and the map XBLive. Is it the same requirements for the Xbox 360? Is Gold / Silver has something to do with the cards? Are there other essential? What is a Wireless Network Adapter do? Thank you!

There remains a need for the 360, except for a credit card.The Gold membership allows you to play online togather things and you can download one weeks earlyer.The silver spaceship member is free, you can download all with few exceptions, but you must wait a week.A must have for 360 is a play and charge kit or the charging station, it's OK, but I prefer the Play and Charge kit.The wireless network adapter is just a special adapter that makes possablie for the 360 to connect to your wireless network.
