An Alcohol Addicted Person Registers For Rehabilitation And Receives Alcohol Detoxification And Rehab For His Alcohol Addiction
Donald used to boast to his drinking friends how he could maintain a difficult and full-time job and get intoxicated almost every night. Sadly, after engaging in this destructive lifestyle for about four years, he began to experience a variety of alcohol related issues.
For instance, he had a very difficult time getting up for work because he felt so exhausted when he got up. Furthermore, most mornings Donald experienced an intense hangover. Obviously, the mixture of his lack of energy and his hangovers did not make it easy for him to get up and feel like he wanted to go to work. To make matters worse, roughly a week ago he received his third drunk driving arrest in the past six months.
To compound things further, at his job his last two work appraisals were less than adequate. And finally, his four-and-a-half-year relationship with his girlfriend had gotten worse due to his depression, angry outbursts, financial difficulties, and his lack of patience.
Though Donald was only twenty-four years old, he simply started looking like he was in his early forties. Sadly, this is what careless drinking can do to an individual. And in truth he comprehended that he was suffering from the adverse effects of alcoholism or alcohol abuse and that he was too young to fritter away his life to abusive and unhealthy drinking. So initially he tried to drink in moderation. Unfortunately, he soon understood that he lost his self control after consuming his first drink. Since this was an incident that was repeated again and again, this obviously worried him a great deal. In actual fact, he started to wonder if he was exhibiting some of the stages of alcoholism.
After mentioning his alcohol drinking problems and his irresponsible and hazardous drinking with his girlfriend, he eventually decided to schedule an appointment to see his healthcare professional. When Donald saw his physician, he genuinely declared that he has been drinking in an abusive manner, that he may be manifesting behavior that is representative of the various alcoholism stages, and that he wants to stop drinking. He then declared that drinking in moderation does not work well for him and consequently, he wants to learn how he can live an alcohol-free life.
Donald also told his family doctor about his depression and how this mental health problem was adversely influencing his relationship with his girlfriend. His healthcare professional referred Donald to Doctor Brand, a drug and alcohol addiction therapist, who convinced Donald to register in a drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility as an in-patient for alcohol detoxification and alcohol rehab. The good news is that Donald would also be able to get medical treatment for his depression at this treatment center.
After three months of rigorous treatment, Donald left the in-patient treatment facility and continued his recovery via going to local Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and via outpatient counseling. Encouraged to change his life in a more productive manner, Donald joined a gym and began working out two or three times per week. Within four months Donald was a new man. He was in shape, he was eating nutritious meals, he was not depressed anymore, and most important of all, he remained sober for numerous months. He also became more patient, he did not resort to angry outbursts, and he became a more loving person in his relationship with his lady friend. In short, getting and staying sober was the best decision Donald had ever made.
