A Bouncer At A Private Discotheque Discovers Why Alcohol Overdose Symptoms And Signs Can Save A Drinker's Life
Just two weeks ago, Ryan applied for a job as a bouncer at one of the local clubs. He had studied judo, gatka, aikido, karate, and ninjitsu for six years; he was a personal trainer; he took daily minerals, supplements, and vitamins; he was into healthy eating and health foods; and he seemed like a natural for such a job. When Ryan got notice that he had been picked for the job, he was tremendously delighted. Due to the fact that this was an elite discotheque, nonetheless, he had to go through a three week instructional class.
On the first day of class, the lecturer began talking about individuals who drink in an excessive manner and what the bouncers, bartenders, and barmaids should do when this condition arises. When the lecturer started discussing alcohol poisoning, Ryan was happy to learn that all of the new barmaids, bartenders, and bouncers were required to learn about alcohol poisoning and what they should do when they saw a drinker who was showing evidence of alcohol poisoning symptoms or exhibiting the signs of alcohol poisoning.
More exactly, all the new bartenders, barmaids, and bouncers were instructed that vomiting and nausea were almost always one of the first signs of alcohol poisoning and that unconsciousness was almost certainly the most highly perceptible alcohol overdose sign or symptom. The instructor went out of his way to highlight the fact that alcohol overdose signs were messages from the brain and from the body that the individual had ingested more alcohol than his or her body can process.
There were, however, several other signs and symptoms of alcohol poisoning that all the new barmaids, bartenders, and bouncers were trained to be aware of. For example, the members in the class were made aware that drinkers with alcohol poisoning exhibit poor reflex responses, are difficult to awaken, often have seizures, and they exhibit confusion.
What is more, the class members discovered that many individuals who have alcohol poisoning also manifest little response from painful stimuli, for instance from pinching; slurred speech; blue tinged or pale skin; and slow, shallow or irregular breathing.
To demonstrate the impact that binge drinking has on alcohol poisoning, the trainer told the students in the class that a drinker who gets inebriated just once on an annual basis is, by definition, involving himself or herself in abusive drinking. Such a person, however, is in all likelihood not alcohol addicted, but is most likely engaging in binge drinking. As declared by the teacher, engaging in binge drinking even one time, sadly, can lead to an alcohol overdose that in extreme instances can be deadly.
The teacher then explained to the members in the class that the most appropriate response for an alcohol overdose is the following: if it is assumed that a drinker is suffering from an alcohol overdose, call 911 and ask for immediate medical assistance, even if the person is underage. By taking this plan of action, the individual will get the prompt alcohol poisoning treatment she or he requires.
After learning about alcohol poisoning and particularly about the symptoms and signs of alcohol poisoning, it may be pointed out, Ryan understood that he had learned some crucial information that might save a drinker's life in the future. In actual fact, Ryan learned that knowledge of the predictable alcohol poisoning symptoms and signs and knowing how to quickly and appropriately react to such symptoms and signs (by immediately calling 911 and asking for emergency medical assistance) can help a person avoid a lethal case of alcohol poisoning.
